Two Cenerentolas for Rossini

On Tuesday February 28 La Cenerentola will close at the Teatro Rossini the week of celebrations dedicated by the town of Pesaro to the bicentenary of the première of the opera and to Rossini’s birthday. The concert performance is organized by the Rossini Conservatory, the Accademia Rossiniana of the Rossini Opera Festival, the National Committee for the Celebration of the Rossinian Centenaries, the Municipality of Pesaro, the Regional Association for Theatrical Activities and the Fondazione Rossini. Manlio Benzi will lead the Orchestra and the Chorus of the Rossini Conservatory with some of the best alumni of the Accademia Rossiniana: Aurora Faggioli (Cenerentola), Xabier Anduaga (Don Ramiro), Maharram Huseinov (Dandini), Pablo Ruiz (Don Magnifico), Li Shuxin (Alidoro) and two students of the Rossini Conservatory: Elisa Caldarazzo (Clorinda) e Holly Czolacz (Tisbe).  Alberto Zedda, the director of the Accademia and the creator of the project, will not conduct the concert due to a slow recovery from a recent unexpected surgery.

As a preview to the event on Friday February 24 at 9 pm at the Teatro Sperimentale there will be a screening of the 2000 ROF production of La Cenerentola staged by Luca Ronconi. The cast includes Sonia Ganassi, Juan Diego Flórez, Bruno Praticò e Roberto De Candia, under the direction of Carlo Rizzi). The latter event will be preceded by a lecture with the Sovrintendente of the ROF Gianfranco Mariotti which will take place at the Chiesa dell’Annunziata at 6 pm titled Un Maestro all’opera

The programme was presented today at a press conference at the Conservatorio Rossini.
