Schrott closes the Concerti lirico sinfonici

The last of the Concerti lirico-sinfonici (Operatic Orchestral Concerts) programmed at the ROF 2021 will take place on the 21st August at 3.30 p.m. at the Teatro Rossini and the singer will be Erwin Schrott, praised for his performance as Pharaoh in Moïse staged at the ROF 2021;  Alessandro Bonato will conduct the Orchestra Sinfonica Gioachino Rossini.  The programme includes music by Rossini, Boito, Verdi, Mendelssohn, Ibert, Gounod.

The bass-baritone Erwin Schrott was born in Montevideo, Uruguay; he began his operatic career at the age of 22 as Roucher in Andrea Chénier. He has been internationally acclaimed in the most prestigious opera houses of the world, such as La Scala, Milan, the Metropolitan Opera, the Opéra national, Paris, the Bayerische Staatsoper, the Washington National Opera, the Vienna State Opera, the Teatro Colón, Buenos Aires, The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, the Florence May Festival, the Hamburg State Opera, the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie, Brussels, the Teatro Comunale, Florence, the Teatro Carlo Felice, Genova, and many others.

Among his most recent engagements: Don Giovanni at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, L’elisir d’amore at the Teatro Real, Madrid, and his first performance as Henry VIII in Anna Bolena at the Royal Opera House, Mascate, in Oman.  Among his future plans are Carmen and Les Contes d’Hoffmann in Vienna, L’elisir d’amore at Dresden and Munich, L’Italiana in Algeri in Milan.    

 The conductor Alessandro Bonato was born in Verona; at a very youthful age he attracted international attention winning the third prize in the Malko International Competition of Copenhagen in 2018.  In March 2016 he had already made his professional début at the Royal Opera House Muscat, in Oman, conducting The magic flute. In March 2019 he conducted La cambiale di matrimonio in Pesaro to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Gioachino Rossini’s death.  He has conducted the Orchestra della Toscana, the Filarmonica della Scala, the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI, the Filarmonica del Festival Pianistico Internazionale di Brescia e Bergamo, and the Pomeriggi Musicali, while abroad he has been a guest conductor of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and of the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra.

During the 2021/22 season he is scheduled to return to the Pomeriggi Musicali besides making his first appearance in Japan with the Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra and at the Musikverein, Vienna, with the Wiener Concert-Verein.

Having been nominated Principal Conductor of the Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana in late 2020, at only 25 years of age he is the youngest person to have filled this post in Italy.
