Cenerentola #25 presented
The Rossini Opera Festival this morning presented the Cenerentola #25 project, winner of one of the calls for proposals launched as part of the Musica 2023 special projects funded by the Ministry of Culture. Speakers included the Italian Ambassador to Berlin, Armando Varricchio, the Mayor of Pesaro, Matteo Ricci, the President of the ROF, Daniele Vimini, the Deputy Mayor of Pesaro, Intendant Ernesto Palacio, the General Director, Cristian Della Chiara, and Samuele Bertani from the digital agency Indici Opponibili.
The aim of the initiative is to create a path for the dissemination of historical and artistic content linked to the knowledge of opera as a symbol of Italian cultural heritage throughout the world, also through digital technologies. Cenerentola #25 celebrates the 25th anniversary of Luca Ronconi’s production at the ROF in 1998 and is divided into three sections: Getting to know, meeting and playing with Cinderella.
The calendar includes a first series of events during the week preceding the anniversary of Gioachino Rossini’s death (13 November 1868).
On Tuesday 7 November at 8 pm at the Giometti multiplex cinema, La Cenerentola will be shown in the revival staged at the ROF in 2000, directed by Luca Ronconi, with sets by Margherita Palli and costumes by Carlo Diappi. Maestro Carlo Rizzi conducted the orchestra of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna and the Prague Chamber Choir. The cast was almost entirely renewed, with the exception of Juan Diego Flórez and Bruno Praticò in the roles of Don Ramiro and Don Magnifico, while the role of Cinderella was entrusted to Sonia Ganassi, alongside Roberto De Candia (Dandini), Ekaterina Morozova (Clorinda), Sonia Prina (Tisbe) and Nicola Ulivieri (Alidoro). The broadcast will be preceded by an introduction by Ilaria Narici, scientific director of the Rossini Foundation.
On Wednesday 8 November at 18.30 in the Sala della Repubblica of the Teatro Rossini, the ROF Talk La Cenerentola 25 anni dopo will take place, with the participation of Luigi Ferrari (President of the Istituto Nazionale Studi Verdiani, then Artistic Director of the ROF), Angelo Foletto (Former President of the Associazione nazionale critici musicali), Ilaria Narici (Scientific Director of the Fondazione Rossini), Ernesto Palacio (Intendant of the ROF) and members of the cast who will perform La Cenerentola the following day. During the talk, the interactive project created for the ROF by the digital agency Indici Opponibili will be presented: a didactic platform to be used as a tool for the Crescendo per Rossini training programme.
On Thursday 9 November at 9 pm, a selection from La Cenerentola will be performed at the Teatro Rossini. The cast is made up of young established artists who have trained at the Accademia Rossiniana ‘Alberto Zedda’: Chiara Tirotta (Cinderella), Pietro Adaini (Don Ramiro), Giuseppe Toia (Don Magnifico), Matteo Mancini (Dandini), Giacomo Nanni (Alidoro). Alessandro Uva at the piano.
On Sunday 12th November at 6pm at the Teatro Rossini, the pianist Francesco Libetta will give a recital entitled Rossini e dintorni, with music by Rossini, Sogner, Valeri, Vernet, Kalkbrenner and Liszt.
This will be followed by two events to promote the project internationally, at the Italian Consulate in New York (Monday 27 November) and the Italian Embassy in Berlin (Thursday 30 November), where the selection of pieces from Cinderella will be performed and the ROF 2024 programme announced.
