The project

The Accademia Rossiniana “Alberto Zedda”, active in Pesaro since 1989, is a highly specialized course for young international talents selected in auditions in Italy and abroad. It has trained numerous outstanding Rossini interpreters, precious testimonials of the ROF in the most prestigious theatres.

Every year hundreds of applications are sent in by young singers from all over the world. The selection process ends with an audition session in which the students admitted to the course are chosen.
A certificate of participation in the Accademia will be given to all at the end of the course.

The study plan includes theoretical seminars, access to the Festival rehearsals and a course in vocal interpretation. Qualified participants will then take part in the Concluding Concert of the Accademia.

Furthermore, the selected participants will be involved in the production of Il viaggio a Reims, staged at the Rossini Opera Festival as part of the “Festival Giovane”.
A grant will be provided for those who take part in the Il viaggio a Reims.

Also as part of the Rossini Opera Festival, students are the protagonists of the Concerti al Museo, short voice-piano recitals held at the Museo Nazionale Rossini, and of the Salons Rossini, a series of concerts in the historic centres of local communities.

During the year, some of the former students also perform in Concerti dal Balcone, the short vocal concerts from the balcony of Gioachino Rossini’s birth house, as well as partecipating in international events organized in collaboration with diplomatic representations and Italian Institutes of Culture.

Fondazione Meuccia Severi supports the activities of the Accademia.
